Reflect on Divined Hope in Times of Uncertainty

Janur is persisting Jeje’s signature boxy silhouette and heavy curves, accompanied by kerancang embroideries, as seen in light coats and maxi dresses. The use of this traditional technique is inspired by the webbed young yellow leaves that form Janur’s geometrical shape.

The collection exhibits a local wisdom about Janur, a young yellow leaf at the top of coconut tree, as a symbol of Sabda Abadi, or sacred heart, prosperity, and divined wishes, that has a special place in the heart of Indonesian people. Janur is taken from the word “anjining nur”, that shows us the sacred power that comes from the light. This spirit leads to a better place for those who believe in hope from the pure heart and deepest soul. The installation of Janur is one of the sacred traditions that existed from generation to generation in common Javanese and Balinese custom.

Hope is the thing that shines in the soul, and gives an endless belief to see the light when its dark. And even in the boiling sun, the clouds will shade.

This theme is interpreted through the strokes of Janur embroideries and bright yellow colors among Jeje’s signature dark hue dominance. Yellow signifies faith that our hopes will reach divined light from a clear heart and soul. This beaming color appears to resembles a dappled shade, as light will illuminates our lives both when its light and dark.

Angelita Nurhadi, the designer herself, invites audiences to dive into the essence of Janur philosophy as a belief to go through the days.
